Meet the Team
Leif Counter
CaptainLeif is a lifelong sailor born in the US Virgin Islands and raised on Martha’s Vineyard. Leif went through the youth sailing program at the Vineyard Haven Yacht Club as a kid where he learned how to race small boats. Since then he’s raced boats all over the Caribbean and the eastern seaboard, including two Newport Bermuda races. He has one Atlantic crossing and several other long passages and deliveries. He loves to share his passion in his local waters on the beautiful Artemis.
Patrick Corbett
OwnerPatrick enjoyed sailing the waters of the Cape in his youth and recently got back into sailing, as he truly enjoys being on the water. His first trip to the Vineyard was with his family at age 16, and he quickly fell in love with the island. Since then, he has spent many summers here, developing a deep connection to the Island and its surrounding waters. Today, he feels especially grateful to spend more time sailing the Vineyard Sound and sharing its beauty with others. When he’s not at the helm, Patrick can often be found helping out as first mate, always happy to be part of a memorable day on the water.
Gayle Corbett
First MateGayle has spent many summers on Martha’s Vineyard, developing a deep appreciation for the island’s coastal beauty and relaxed pace of life. More recently, she’s discovered a love of sailing and enjoys being out on the water whenever she can. From time to time, she steps in as first mate, bringing a warm, welcoming presence and a genuine enthusiasm for sharing the Vineyard experience with others.
True Corbett
CrewTrue grew up spending his summers on Martha’s Vineyard, developing a deep respect for the ocean and a natural comfort on the water. A rising senior, he will be working as a lifeguard this summer and joining the crew as first mate whenever he can. Having recently discovered a passion for boating, True brings energy, a strong work ethic, and an easygoing presence to every trip, always eager to help create a great experience on the water.
Maggie Bucci
Spiritual Leader, CrewMaggie is someone who wears a lot of hats and genuinely enjoys it. She's happiest outside-on the water, surfing, in the garden, or playing with her dog and ducks. She has worked aboard sailing yachts and tall ships as both a stewardess and part of the engineering team, and completed the Marine Systems Program at the International Yacht Restoration School (IYRS) in 2020. She's also worked as a marine electronics technician, bringing a practical, hands-on understanding of life at sea. On board, she brings a steady, attentive presence and cares about creating a comfortable, enjoyable experience for the people she's with. Off the water, Maggie works as a wellness and movement coach and is the creator of Fit For Flow, a method that blends strength training, nervous system work, and energy practices.
Mary Morano
Marketing Specialist, Alternate CaptainMary grew up sailing on Martha’s Vineyard, coming up through the Edgartown Yacht Club Junior Program and later competing on the College of Charleston’s national championship team. She now sails both professionally and recreationally while running her marketing agency, Marivine (thank you, Starlink), where she helps purpose-driven businesses achieve meaningful growth through tailored marketing strategies. Mary is excited to be part of Team Artemis and looks forward to sailing her locally - with dreams of sailing her to Maine one day to explore its nooks and crannies and turn a few heads along the way.
