Your Questions, Answered

  • Sailing is weather dependent, but forecasts on Martha’s Vineyard are generally quite reliable. If conditions appear unsafe or unsuitable for sailing (such as strong winds, heavy rain, or thunderstorms), the captain will make the final decision and typically notify guests about 2 hours before the scheduled departure.

If a charter is cancelled due to weather, you will have the option to reschedule your sail or receive a full refund.

  • We recommend bringing:

    • A light jacket or sweater (it can be cooler on the water)

    • Soft-soled shoes or boat shoes

    • Sunglasses, sunscreen, and a hat

    • Snacks or beverages you’d like to enjoy during the sail

You’re welcome to bring a small cooler if desired. Artemis has a comfortable cockpit for relaxing under sail, but there is limited shade, so sun protection is recommended on bright Vineyard days. Please avoid bringing red wine or other staining foods/drinks, as they can damage the boat.

  • Charters cancelled more than 48 hours before the scheduled sail will receive a full refund.
Cancellations within 48 hours are generally non-refundable unless the captain cancels due to unsafe weather conditions.

If possible, we’re always happy to help reschedule your sail.

  • Parking instructions will be provided in your booking confirmation depending on the departure harbor on Martha’s Vineyard. Public parking is typically available within walking distance of the dock. We recommend arriving 15–20 minutes before your scheduled departure to allow time to find parking and get settled aboard.

  • Yes. Artemis has a small enclosed marine head (restroom) located in the cabin. As space is limited on a classic sailing yacht, it’s best used when needed rather than as a primary restroom, and guests may wish to plan accordingly before departure.

  • Artemis is best enjoyed with up to four guests, plus the captain, allowing everyone plenty of space to relax and enjoy the sail.

  • Not at all. Your captain will handle all sailing and navigation. You’re welcome to sit back and relax, or if you're curious, you’re always invited to learn about the boat and sailing along the way.

  • Yes - families are welcome aboard. Children should be comfortable around water. Please note that children under the age of 12 are required by Massachusetts state law to wear a life jacket during the sail.

  • All sails depart from Vineyard Haven Harbor. From there, we typically cruise through the harbor and out along the surrounding coastline, depending on the wind and sea conditions. Charters often pass Gannon & Benjamin Marine Railway, where Artemis was built, before heading into the open waters just beyond the harbor.

Each sail is a little different, allowing us to make the most of the day’s conditions while enjoying the scenery around Vineyard Haven.
